Sasso chickens are the gourmet’s choice for flavour and texture. Sasso Chickens are specially developed in France for the free range and organic market they combine hardiness and ease of rearing with fine flavour.
Smart Chicks in Somerset offer quality Sasso chicks to suit producers who
wish to specialise in fantastic tasting free range Sasso Chicken. Our parent flocks come from France to Somerset as day old chicks and spend their lives in small flocks of about 100 birds. The parents’ live free range and are able to forage, perch and nest naturally.
Keeping the parent flocks increases our costs compared to importing hatching eggs from France but it reduces the food miles of the finished poultry, reduces the disease risks and enables us to monitor the quality of the chicks we supply. The Sasso
chicks are hatched in our hatchery on the farm. Chicks are available as day olds and off heat (around 6 weeks old).
Smart Chicks is a small family business developed over years of poultry keeping and poultry eating. We have specialised in Sassos because we have found them to be easy to rear, resistant to disease and to taste better than ANY commercially
available meat bird.
